Meet the Director

 

My name is Maggie Packett, and it is truly a privilege to be your student's band and choir director this year! I joined band and choir in middle school right here in South Beloit, and continued to be an active part of both ensembles until my graduation in 2017. After graduation I moved to Peoria, IL. where I attended Bradley University. While there I gained experience in two levels of collegiate wind band ensembles, played regularly in the basketball band, did a year of orchestra, and a semester of singing in the women's chorus. I graduated magna cum laude in 2021 with a Bachelor of Music degree in K-12 Music Education, with honors, and then went on teach choir in another school for two years. In this co-taught program, my colleagues and I brought students to local collegiate festivals, ILMEA district 2 events, IGSMA organizational contests, and our top choral ensemble was selected to perform at the Illinois Music Education Conference in January 2023. 

 

Working here in South Beloit is a dream! This is the community I was raised in and love so dearly. It's truly an honor to continue the legacy of the previous director who is currently enjoying a very well-deserved retirement. I am proud to be a Sobo, and cannot wait to share great music and tradition with your students!
