Guidance Counselor

Meet Mrs. Cooper

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Kelly Cooper, and I am the new guidance counselor at South Beloit High School. I look forward to being a part of the South Beloit School District family. I have a passion for working with students and helping them reach their academic, career, and personal goals. I also want to help students discover how their interests, values, skills, and personality relate to choosing a career path.

I started my college career at Rock Valley College and then received my bachelor's degree in corporate communication with a minor in psychology from Northern Illinois University. I then completed my master's degree in counselor education at Northern Illinois University as well.

I most recently worked at the Belvidere School District as their Early College Coordinator. I found my passion for working with high school students in that position. Prior to that role, I worked in various positions at Rock Valley College, with the most recent being the Executive Director of Early College and Engineering Our Future. I also served as the Director of Career Services at Rockford University. I believe in working closely with students, their families, teachers, staff, and administrators to help students gain success in high school and beyond.

Additionally, in my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, watching my daughters' sporting events, and coaching them in soccer. I also enjoy reading, fishing, gardening, cooking, and other outdoor activities.

Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions at [email protected]. I look forward to a wonderful school year.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Kelly Cooper
