    March 13, 2019

    Dear Parents and Students,

This letter is to inform you of state testing on April 9th, 2019, at South Beloit High School.  On Tuesday, April 9th, 9th grade students will take the PSAT/9.  10th grade students will take the PSAT/10 and 11th grade students will take the SAT.  On this day, 11th grade students should arrive by 7:30 AM for breakfast and to check in.  9th and 10th grade students will begin testing at the beginning of the normal school day.  Regular classes will not take place on this day.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided.  Bussing will be provided in the morning to school, and will not return to school until the 3:20 PM dismissal time.  Testing will end between 12:00pm and 1:00pm. Please make arrangements for your child(ren) to have transportation home.  We encourage the students to get plenty of rest the night before their test, as well as eat healthy foods when possible.

On April 9th, 12th grade students will not be in attendance.  Instead, 12th grade students will be required to job shadow, make a college visit, register for college, take part in a college orientation, take part in placement testing or perform their required community service.  Students will need to bring proof of their experience(s) on letterhead or an official statement from their place of occupancy to the office on Wednesday, April 10th.  Students not taking part in any of these opportunities will be issued consequences from the office.

The SAT is an Illinois state requirement for students to complete in order to receive a high school diploma, and students are required to be at the high school during their testing times.  These tests give the parents, staff and students the information they need to help cultivate our curriculum to provide some of the best educational experiences of their academic careers.  Students should view these tests as tickets to their future, opening opportunities with every point earned.  Please encourage your child(ren) to do the best they can to show what the students of South Beloit High School are truly capable of.  We thank you for your assistance and look forward to seeing the results.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the high school at 815-389-9004.

Thank you for the continued cooperation in the success of your student.

Jeremy Schaaf - Principal

Dear South Beloit High School Community,

I am beyond excited to be named the Principal at South Beloit High School. The opportunity to serve the community, school, staff and students of South Beloit School District is truly humbling. I believe my teaching and administrative experience at the middle and high school levels will serve the South Beloit High School students and staff in a diverse manner.

My journey in education has taken many turns over the years. I am originally from Wisconsin where I grew up on my family’s dairy farm. I am a graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in my Bachelors degree and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for my Masters degree in Administrative Leadership. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate degree through Aurora University and hope to be completed soon. Please ask me how my dissertation is going to keep me motivated. In my free time, I spend as much time with my wife and two young daughters.

My teaching experience has led me through multiple levels, I have taught middle and high school in both regular and special education. I was also a head football and softball coach while I taught at the high school level. My administrative experience comes from being an Assistant Principal, Athletic Director and Principal. I come to South Beloit School District from Woodstock Community Unit School District where I was an Assistant Principal at the high school and a Middle School Principal.

In my previous experience as an administrator, I have led a 1:1 chromebook implementation, digital literacy implementation, increased Advanced Placement enrollment and created Dual Credit opportunities students. I look forward to working with the students and community members of South Beloit to create student pathways for high school and beyond.

Thank you for letting me be part of the educational experience at South Beloit High School.
